The page size is 34 x 20cms. there are 12 plates printed by Max Jaffé in Vienna in colour collotype. The printing, which is of a fearsome standard is supervised by John Johnson of the Oxford University Press. It is an edition limited to 550 copies of which this is 391.

The illustrative format is simple and clear. - portrait plates reconstructing the original cast list and drawn and coloured in that characterstically Twenties mode that relates to the Russian avant garde e.g. Goncharova. They are almost fashion plates but superbly stylised, each one a fresh calculation.

It doesn't help us much to call it Art Deco and pass on. It is a lazy solution.
