Beaman (1887 - 1932) Began his career making puppets and toy theatres, while going to Heatherley's
Art School (Evelyn Waugh was a pupil there later). He devised the immensely
popular puppet and comic character of Larry the Lamb and other denizens
of Toytown . He graphic style is a characteristic blocky, ersatz Cubist
style, which is often highly inventive, and brightly coloured.
