Brian Robb (1913 - 1979) was above all an inspiring teacher to generations of illustrators. He had worked for PUNCH in the thirties, made posters for Shell and London Transport and became Head of Illustration at the Royal College, London.

He was also a Camouflage Officer in the Western Desert in the Second World War.

He had an uncanny knack of directing young hopefuls to the right (often surprising) inspirations, e.g. my pal David Rees Davies sent to look at Rowlandson.
