Gunther Victor Russ was born in Berlin in 1899. From 1920-1923 he studied Fine Arts at Munich. In 1938 he came to the UK as an exile from the Nazis. He served in the Royal Engineers Camouflage Unit. After 1945 he worked under the name Victor Ross as a freelance book illustrator. His work can be found in LILLIPUT, Girl and Country Fair. He died in 1963.
