In pursuit of a job in Bristol at the Art School I met George Tute and delightful he was too. I knew his work and saw a scattering in his studio. The successful candidate made intermittent visits to teach and quickly generated a Lack of Confidence Motion from the students. My suspicion of the Management, bluff, stolid and unexciting perhaps showed through perhaps at interview. The view from the window was a perfect pastoral with a tractor steadily ploughing, a monotony that matched the tenor of the questions and drove me to the margin of sleep

I never forgot the excellent and jovial George Tute.
