The great graphic satirist, Honore Daumier depicted Louis Philippe, the Citizen King, as a pear - not only in the structure of the head, but also the whole body. Even when the image was banned by the censor, the pear would appear at a distance from a resemblance to Louis Philippe, but the reading public knew the formula and made the links.

Daumier's charcaterisation of the Ruler resulted in imprisonment from September 1832 to January 1833.
