What I offer

I provide a personal design service, based upon a variety of software, to match the particular needs of individual clients. My target clientele are exhibition organisers, museum and gallery curators, the academic and publishing communities and all those engaged in promotional and publicity work. I offer expertise in web-site design and maintenance, editing, proofreading and copywriting. In addition, I can advise on, and undertake. picture and archival research.  Previous experience in higher education coupled with It skills means that I can offer a unique and personal service to those that require it.. Few other people working in this field can provide the kind of expertise that I have, combining both design and historical skills in a flexible and creative manner.

Because of my past experience, I have developed a platform of personal and professional contacts, that provide a basis for future commissions. I also communicate closely with people engaged in contemporary projects. Examples are UNICEF, Energy Awareness in education, and several art galleries. The most important strategic instrument is the Internet, for which I have designing my own website. This allows me to advertise to an international audience, and work at a distance with potential clients worldwide.

My Background

I have twenty-five years experience as a university lecturer, working in the fields of art, design and architectural history, publishing books and various articles in that time, and also delivering conference papers. This has given me a wide expertise in both knowledge and communication skills. I have a first class degree and a doctorate. After leaving higher education in early 2000, I retrained in ICT skills and obtained CLAIT qualifications and wide experience in a variety of software programmes, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Quarkexpress, Photoshop, with further experience in Director, Flash, Fireworks and Dreamweaver for web-site work. To this end, I have also pursued courses and workshops in business methods and enterprise.

I work from home as an individual, using the Internet to create contacts and information. I take on commissions from clients and provide a service for them that is geared towards their timescale and their requirements, according to what they need. I undertake both textual and design projects, which includes working with specific organisations as well as individuals.
