a giant steak,

White align their trucks in a stately stasis, usually facing the left hand margin of the page. In repose, these mighty but gentle beasts dream while they are being loaded or adjusted - dream of unlikely things, telephones, road signs and a woman with a supermarket basket. Some dreams are star bursts, and sometimes a celestial vision of contentment with the traditional cloud support. Perhaps the argument is that the vehicles have earned their reverie.

Only in Peter Helck's pictures do these beasts of the road barrel along the Freeway, a danger to every living soul (pace Speilberg's Duel).
