GRAPHIS presents an unrivalled profile of graphic arts and influences in the post-war period, established designers and illustrators, the younger generations across Europe and America. Articles on Occidental arts, on medieval illumination ensure that the magazine avoids narrow commercial contexts. The rarity of the source material drives me to include as much as I can, of Eckersley, Games and Searle, of post-war posters and exhibition display - an unrivalled window through to the recovery of Europe. My collection of issues extends up to the more garish years of Peter Max and Psychodelia, but nevertheless is unfailingly perceptive of dominant trends and thoughtful imagery.
I will add a visual resume of one issue whenever I can. Each issue's contents can be accessed at the top of the mast head. |
