Dedicated to my most powerful and delightful Professor of Art History, Peter Lasko, who made me the person and scholar I am today. I did a paper on stylistic changes in manuscript painting for him, and just loved it. At a seminar I tried an argument which failed, and caused a snigger, Peter sprang to my defence."It takes an intelligent man to change his mind." He got me a grant for Post Graduate research and went on to be Boss of the Courtauld who didn't deserve him. My abiding memory of him was bouncing across his front garden on a Space Hopper. Peter, you were a great scholar, a gentleman and possessed of a large sense of humour. |
