Memories of Grahame White
I
was so sad to hear about Graham. I was very fond of him too.
One of those unusual people who I was very glad to have known.
I always remember that affable greeting we used to get at Colin
Page’s in the old days before he joined the course and
then enjoying long conversations with him. I last saw him about
three or four years ago in the faculty café when we talked
for ages about books. As you know he kept his scholarship under
his sleeve and was sometimes reluctant to expand on what he knew.
On this particular occasion he spilled out wondrous fountains
of erudition during an hour’s worth of invigorating conversation.
Bless him. Professor John Vernon Lord, 20th October 2006 |
