I first met Grahame when he attended one of the PhD. group meetings where
I was giving a presentation. I recall how he made me feel at ease
with his enthusiasm for my project smiling knowingly at all the
right moments. Afterwards he spoke to me about my work with sincere
interest in his quiet, gentle tone and revealed a wealth of cultural
knowledge.
I will
remember Grahame for his friendly bohemian presence but above all
his underplayed erudition. What a sad loss.
