The top left illustration is Lear’s ‘Young Person of Crete’, who dressed herself in a sack.
The general background for this is based on a fragment of fresco in Knossos to give it a Greek flavour;  - and the bird (a symbol of a divine presence in Cretan art) is adapted from a libation vase from the Palace of Phaestos.
